Teachers Help Students Check Out eBooks for FREE!!

Teachers!! Librarians!!

Do you work for a Title 1 campus?  Attention all teachers, librarians, and principals of low-income or economically disadvantaged students.  You could qualify to help your students check out eBooks absolutely FREE!  The idea is to make book available to ALL children! Thanks to an app recently announced by the White House this idea is becoming reality!  The White House partnered with ten publishers Digital Public Library of American, First Book, The New York Public Library, The Institute of Museum and Library Services as well as digital book distributor, Baker and Taylor to create this awesome app!  The app is free and works on a variety of devices.  However, it is not currently for use on devices such as Kindle or Nook.   This excellent initiative will help to provide thousands of free ebooks to all students in Title 1 and military base schools; as well as ALL special education students.

Here is what you need to do:  Teachers/Librarians working for a Title 1 school (or eligible school), can sign up with First Book.  Once you are registered, you can request access codes for Open eBooks.  Students are allowed to borrow up to 10 books at a time and they can check out new once as often as they like.

To sign up or to get more information about Open eBooks and the app, go to OpeneBooks.net
